Accessibility statement

Our commitment

This statement covers the Finify website at finify.tax, in English and in Dutch. It does not cover the Finify application you log in to; that has its own statement [to follow].

We design and build the website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AAA. Most websites aim for level AA. We aim higher, because the people who use Finify are as varied as the people who sell online.

Conformance status

Partially conformant. We have built the website to meet WCAG 2.2 level AAA, and our automated tests find no failures. We call it partially conformant because we have not yet completed testing with assistive technology by people who use it every day, and because a few parts rely on services we don't fully control (see "Known limitations").

What we've done

• Contrast: text has a contrast ratio of at least 7:1 against its background, in light and dark mode.
• Keyboard: everything works with a keyboard alone, in a logical order, with a clearly visible focus indicator. The menu on phones keeps focus inside it while it is open, and closes with Escape.
• Skip link: the first link on every page takes you straight to the content.
• Target size: buttons and links are at least 44 by 44 pixels.
• Zoom and reflow: pages work at 400% zoom and on screens 320 pixels wide, without horizontal scrolling. Adjusting line, letter and word spacing does not break the layout.
• Motion: if your device is set to reduce motion, the animation on the homepage is skipped and you see its end state straight away. Nothing moves or blinks without reason, and nothing has a time limit.
• Your settings: the website follows your light or dark mode setting and works with high contrast (forced colours) mode.
• Structure: every page has one main heading, a clear heading structure, labelled landmarks and the correct language, so screen readers read Dutch and English text correctly.
• Forms: every field has a visible label. If you skip a choice, a clear message tells you what to do, and it is read out by screen readers.
• Plain language: we write in plain English and plain Dutch, explain terms such as OSS and IOSS, and use the same words for the same things across the site.
• Without JavaScript: the website remains readable and usable if scripts are turned off.

How we test

• Automatically, on every change: the website is tested with axe-core in Chromium, Firefox and Safari (WebKit), on thirteen screen widths from 320 to 2560 pixels, in light and dark mode, at 200% zoom, with increased text spacing and in forced colours mode.
• By hand: we check keyboard use, focus order and how pages behave on real phones.
• With screen readers: testing with NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver is [planned before launch / completed on date]. We will update this statement with the results.

Known limitations

• Chat: the chat on our contact page is provided by [provider]. We are checking how well it meets WCAG 2.2; if it doesn't work for you, call or email us instead.
• Booking calendar: the calendar for booking a demo is provided by HubSpot. It may not meet level AAA. If it doesn't work for you, email jasper@finify.tax and we'll book the call for you.
• PDF downloads: downloadable PDFs are being made accessible (tagged PDF). Until then, the same information is always available on the web page itself.
• Content in progress: some pages still contain placeholder text in square brackets. These will be replaced before launch.

Technologies we rely on

HTML, CSS, WAI-ARIA and JavaScript. The website does not depend on JavaScript to be readable or usable.
